Almost everyone thought it was a won ballgame. SMB was leading by a much as 19 points with 9:14 minutes left in the fourth quarter. And then the monumental meltdown started to sink in. Air21 got back into the game and even grabbed the lead in the dying seconds, 107-110.

With 3.1 seconds left in the game clock, SMB mapped out a game plan to level the score. Dondon Hontiveros inbounded the ball, passed to a receiver, and do a little fake move to get some space from Wynne Arboleda.

He got back the ball and spot up for a perfect triple that hit nothing but net. He just sent the game in overtime and avoided another monumental lapse by SMB!

Such heroic act by Dondon Hontiveros earned him our nod as the SMB Player of the Week spanning November 5 – 11, 2008. Aside from this, he contributed heavily in scoring by producing 25 points on a 9-of-15 shooting, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in 29 minutes of action.

After 8 games this conference, Dondon has become one of the consistent players of SMB aside from do-it-all forward Jay Washington. He leads the team in scoring with 15.12 points, contributes a good number of rebounds in 4.62, a quite good number of assists in 2.38, and steals the ball once every ballgame.

Despite the absence of Danny Seigle and Danny Ildefonso, it’s good to know that someone like Dondon Hontiveros has stepped up to provide the needed firepower that SMB needs. He don’t need to score so many points as everyone is contributing. However, on certain occassions that the team needs a hero to bail us out of trouble, you can count on Dondon Hontiveros to save the day.
