With Danny Seigle being sidelined by injury, the San Miguel Beermen continued its quest for the championship. His abscense was not that felt as several players stepped up to take the point production chores. Lordy Tugade in particular, picked up Danny Seigle’s spot as he helped the Beermen in their two games last week.
Tugade averaged 18 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2 assists in their two games last week against the Barangay Ginebra Kings and Red Bull Barakos.
In the game against the Barangay Ginebra Kings, Lordy Tugade led the Beermen charge with his 21 points, 3 rebounds on a 5/7 shooting from beyond the arc. This contributed heavily to the 29-point blowout of the undermanned Gin Kings that earned him the Best Player of the Game.
In the game against the Red Bull Barakos, he tallied 15 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists in a losing effort. He was silenced by the Barakos in the three-point distance with their good perimeter defense.
The value of a Lordy Tugade is evident in these two games particularly in the point production department. Although the Beermen’s scoring is evenly balance this conference, you still need someone who can steadily provide instant offense for your team now that former main man Danny Seigle is not around to light up the scoreboard.
Because of his consistency in point production and providing stability for the Beermen, this blog chooses the Alaminos Assassin Lordy Tugade as the SMB Player of the Week.
